We worship to remind ourselves who we are and whose we are. We worship to hear and participate in ancient stories that are still unfolding with power and grace. We worship to be part of Something bigger, Something holy, Something truly awe-some.
Worship at New Joy Lutheran Church is a time to sing and pray, to give praise and receive blessings, to hear God’s Word and be sent into the world in God’s peace, to love and serve. We worship each Sunday at 9:30am.
An ancient pattern shared by Christians for nearly two millennia loosely shapes how we worship.
We GATHER with song and prayer.
We hear God’s WORD proclaimed in Scripture and in preaching.
In the MEAL we receive our Lord’s own real and holy presence in Holy Communion.
We sing a lot at New Joy. Pastor Chris preaches. Children worship and play (seriously, they play. We have a play mat for children in our worship space). We lay hands on people for special blessings. We share peace. Some of us bow or make the sign of the cross. We speak – and hear – God’s promises. We do all this and more guided by 2000 years of Christian teaching and tradition.
