Life is messy. And so is faith.

Are you eager to experience the love of God within your family’s messy life? New Joy welcomes your family to Messy Church. Once a month we will gather on Wednesdays to eat together, create together and worship together.

Is it Messy? Yes, in two ways. In the spirit of radical welcome, the core value of New Joy’s Messy Church is this: “Come when you can, leave when you must.” That means our community will ebb and flow throughout the evening. You may come late to dinner. Or you may arrive only for worship. That’s the joy of Messy Church. The community will be present to welcome you whenever you arrive.

Messy Church is also messy because we welcome all to engage in activity stations that help us encounter God’s love. Sometimes the activities might be a bit messy – but other times they’ll be contemplative and soulful. Nothing will be required. You may stay at one station the whole time or try four. Come and expect the unexpected ways God’s encounters us with grace and mercy and love.

Is it Church? Yes! We gather, we hear God’s word, we eat and we go forth to love God’s world. That’s church! At the end of each evening of Messy Church the community will worship. We will sing, pray, here God’s word, reflect on God’s word and share holy communion – all in 20 minutes!

Join us Wednesday, February 28 when you can. Here’s the rough outline of how things will go.

5:30 Welcome
5:45 Meal
6:15 Activity Stations (crafts, prayer stations, hands-on activities)
7:00 Worship
7:20 Depart for home

Messy Church is for all ages – both kids and adults. Future dates on Wednesdays include March 21, April 18, and May 16.

There is no cost to attend Messy Church and registration is not necessary.
